Ear Cropping
I am not a fan of ear cropping. If you have looked at my dogs, you have seen that none of them are cropped. There are various reasons for this. There is always a risk when an animal is put under anesthetic,no matter how routine the surgery is and to me this is an unnecessary one. I feel it is a form of cruelty. The ear is put into a metal clamp, half of it is cut off and thrown in the trash. Then dozens of sutures are put in the ear to connect the front part of the skin to the back. After that is done a post is placed in the ear and tape is wrapped around it. Then tape is wrapped over the top of the head and under the neck, to keep the whole thing from falling off, which it does with great regularity, at which time the dog has to be taken back to the vet and have the whole thing re wrapped. Then, if you have had a good vet and you have done 100% of everything you were suppose to do, the odds of the ears standing correctly are still not great. Here are some pictures of what we call "Crop Failure". These are my two rescue Danes.

Cheyenne's ears either hang down on the side of lay over the top of her head.
Jadowin's ears always hang down at the side.
These are some of the dogs I rescued and rehomed.
One of Ice's ears hangs down and the other lays across the top of his head.
Oberon's ears make a nice little triangle over the top of his head.
Rose's ears hang down at the side.
One of Thunder's ears leans over the top of his head, while the other bends to the side.
